11. Anything you can tell us about your family or pets?
My son Tommy went to Notre Dame H.S. in Niles and played 3 sports there. He played football, basketball, and volleyball. He went to Lake Forest College where he played football; he was a wide receiver and punt returner. After graduation, he continued schooling to become an EMT and a paramedic. He is now Wilmette Fire Fighter. My daughter went to Resurrection High School, where she has her number retired and is a member on the Wall of Fame! She went to Illinois State University where she was their starting point guard and 4 year captain. At Illinois State she broke practically every record and was the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and received the Jackie Stiles Award 3 years. The only other player to achieve this was Jackie Stiles herself. After her senior year she played with the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA for 6 weeks and then continued playing briefly in Greece and Poland before giving the WNBA another try with the Chicago Sky. Her jersey and number was retired at Illinois State during Christmas break following her senior year. After being a Grad Assistant and receiving her masters degree from the University of Missouri she is now the Head Coach of the Judson University Eagles in Elgin. My mom would have been 100 on her next birthday!
12. Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies for years was coaching defense for the women’s basketball teams at Ridgewood H.S. , Madonna High School, Regina High School, and Northside College Prep. I love to read! I wish I had more time to read!
13. What is something you wish the parents of your students knew?
Together as a “team”, student, parents, and teachers working together give the students the greatest chance for a great learning experience and education.
14. What is the most helpful thing a parent can do for your class this year?
Technology today is wonderful and is great, but for all the great attached to technology there is potentially an equal amount of evil attached to it. Parents please be aware of what your children are doing with their technology.
15. What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
I recently received my master’s degree in educational technology from the American College of Education.
16. What is your favorite book?
My two favorite books are the “Sword of Shannara” by Terry Brooks (It was recommended to me years ago by a student in my fifth grade class.) and “Wooden - A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court” by John Wooden!
17. Who is your favorite author?
Terry Brooks and J.K. Rowling
18. If you weren’t a teacher, what profession would you choose?
I can’t imagine a better profession than a teacher / coach!!!
19. Who is your hero?
Ma and
Teacher/Coach John Wooden of the UCLA Bruins!
20. What extracurricular activities are you involved in at St. Viator? I really enjoyed being a part of the Bitty Ball basketball program as a coach. It was great to get to spend more time with the kids and get to know them better and from a different perspective. After cooking the “MrC’s World Famous Best Toast in the World Please” in morning Kid Care, I enjoy greeting our students and parents every morning to begin our St. Viator School Day!
